Minimum Wage Pay Increases - Easily Automated Any Change

Stay ahead of minimum wage increases by scheduling them in advance. Changes to minimum wage are coming on April 1st, but don’t wait and risk over or underpaying your staff. Check if your HR software can schedule the updates now.

Scheduled Staff Pay Rate Changes

All StaffSavvy users have the option to schedule a change to hourly rates and salaries in Pay Settings. For the minimum wage increases coming in April, you will want to edit the Pay Elements for staff hourly pay rates.

Each staff member will have a pay element associated with their role. In your pay elements, you simply click in to edit the hourly pay rate. You then have the option of changing it immediately or choosing a future date for the change. Be sure to untick ‘From now’ to pick your date in the future.

Bulk Updates to Hourly Rates

As you’ll see in the screenshot above, you have the option to update all other roles with the exact same pay rate. Again, this can be convenient for minimum wage increases if you have ten or more roles with the same pay.

When editing an hourly rate, you also have the option of correcting a rate. A correction will change the current hourly rate and any unprocessed hourly rates to match the new rate.

The system will also record all changes to the hourly rates and correctly select the right hourly rate historically for any time entry added in the past or the future. You will also be able to see a history of changes to any pay element.

Changing Hourly Pay Rate by Age

You can also change a staff member's hourly rate when they turn a certain age. This is configured in the Pay Element associated with a role. So, anyone under 20 years old doing the role ‘Bar Staff’ could be paid £10.00 per hour, and then on their 21st birthday, the system will automatically increase their salary to £12.21 going forward.

Automate More HR Tasks

There are many more areas you can automate to save time managing your staff. StaffSavvy specialises in venue-based businesses that rely on shift-based staff. Take our scheduling system, for example. You can put the onus on staff to tell you when they are available and when they prefer not to work. Then, have the software automate your schedules for you. Staff can even swap shifts amongst themselves in the app once you have given them pre-approval and their roles are the same.
